Ad review for cosmetology and beauty

Beauty is a niche where half of the ads get rejected out of habit of showing results. What you can show is the process, the atmosphere and the price.

The main rules

  • 18+. Cosmetic procedures, weight loss, injectables, device treatments. Set the restriction in the audience, do not wait for the system to cut delivery itself.
  • No “before and after”. No comparisons in one image or in a carousel. Even if the result is real.
  • No focus on flaws. Close-ups of wrinkles, cellulite, acne or extra weight are banned as undermining self-esteem.
  • No promises. “Minus 10 years”, “forever”, “100% result” lead to rejection, and when repeated to an account restriction.
  • No medical claims. “We treat”, “we cure” belong to a licensed clinic. A beauty salon provides procedures.

What to show instead of results

  • The process: the specialist at work, hands, tools, the room.
  • The atmosphere: interior, light, details.
  • The product: preparations, cosmetics, equipment with a name and certificate.
  • People after the procedure without comparison: a happy face, not “this is how it was”.
  • Price and time: “Facial cleansing, 60 minutes, [amount]”.

Process video in Reels brings cheaper leads than any banner and is almost never rejected.

Wording that passes

Rejected Approved
Remove wrinkles forever Injectable correction of expression lines
Lose 5 kg in a month Body contouring programme with a cosmetologist
Tired of cellulite? LPG massage, a course of 10 sessions
Skin like at 20 Facial skincare by the [brand] protocol

The rule: describe the procedure, not the change in the person.

Google for beauty

On Google Ads cosmetic surgery and injectables are restricted content. A salon can advertise skincare, manicure and hairdressing without limits. Procedures with intervention need a site with legal details, and in some countries Google will ask for certification. Search ads for beauty work best on queries with the service and the district: “manicure Podil”, “laser hair removal Lviv”.

The Instagram profile before launch

Reviewers and people look at the profile. Before ads:

  • A bio with address, hours and a booking button.
  • Current stories with prices.
  • Latest posts no older than two weeks.
  • Replies to comments and messages the same day.

Ads sent to an empty or abandoned profile bring expensive leads and complaints, and complaints lead to restrictions.

What to do when an ad is rejected

Change the image first: in beauty 80% of rejections are about the visual, not the text. Resubmit, do not create a copy. If a series of ads gets rejected in a row, pause the campaign for a day and review the creatives as a whole, otherwise the account gets flagged.

Common questions

Can I show the result of a manicure or a haircut?

Yes. The “before and after” ban concerns changes to the body and skin: weight loss, injectables, device cosmetology. A finished manicure, haircut or makeup without a comparison is allowed.

Why does an approved ad get little delivery?

For cosmetic procedures Meta automatically limits the audience to 18+, and in some countries to 21+. If the settings target a wider age, reach gets cut. Set 18+ yourself.

Can Botox and fillers be advertised?

On Meta yes, with the age limit and no promised results. On Google injectable cosmetology falls under restricted healthcare services and some countries require certification.
